Abstract
 

The fifth decade of clinical research in PTSD - interdisciplinary approaches 

Since PTSD was included in DSM 4 decades have passed by. Several shifts in our research focus have occurred that contributed to our understanding of the pathophysiology of trauma disorders and PTSD. Recently a staging approach to the disorder has been proposed that will be discussed. It encompasses a RDOC approach that allows novel approaches to therapy, including psychedelics and a broad array of other novel interventions. There is appetite for esthetic transformative experiences that may yield lasting results and that have potential to change delivery of therapy. The promises and pitfalls will be discussed.
