A morning meditation helps to start your day feeling grounded, refreshed and in flow. It helps to reconnect to your inner self, to you. Which to me is the most valuable part!
This session is offered daily throughout the Wellbeing Week. Every session will focus on a different theme. Gratitude and loving kindness are some of them.
You can join one or two sessions, but why not join all four sessions!? To really experience the benefits of it!
During the session, make sure to be in a comfortable location where you won't be disturbed.
There is no experience needed and if you do have experience, you’re very welcome too.

"Willen we terug naar de basis?” In een tijd van toenemende bevolkingsgroei en verstedelijking ten koste van natuur, is de roep om natuur juist groot. En op dit moment wordt dit ten tijde van corona ook versterkt. Als tegenwicht tegen stress en de versnelling van de samenleving, is natuur een goed medicijn. In Japan stimuleert de overheid al bostherapie voor het herstel van teveel stress en competitie.
In deze workshop, in het virtueel klaslokaal, vertelt Lisanne van de Buitendokters je graag meer over de wetenschappelijke basis achter de waarde van natuur voor jouw welzijn. Het wordt een interactieve workshop waarbij er zowel aandacht is voor wetenschappelijk onderzoek, de laatste trends, als voor praktijkvoorbeelden. Ervaar in deze workshop zelf wat natuur voor een positief effect heeft op je lichaam en geest en hoe we dit kunnen toepassen in de onderwijssector, te beginnen bij jouw studentenkamer.

A Mindful Journey. In this workshop your host, Joyce Finlay, Inner Wellbeing Coach will explain a little bit about mindfulness and meditation. After this short explanation she will guide you through a relaxing yoga nidra session, followed by a mindful movement activity. Feeling stressed? The image of the computer screen stuck to your eyes? Time for a little break! Try learning how to juggle! Juggling is a great way to focus your mind on something else for a while. It also improves the cooperation between the left- and right side of your brain, making it easier to focus and continue your work afterwards. It also improves hand-eye coordination and helps prevent sore wrists from typing.
Drop by for how long you wish during the Wellbeing week at the Library to get an introduction to juggling and start your practice!

In our time as students and UM Staff, we inevitably spend a lot of time sitting down, looking at a screen and mainly exercising our minds.
As a counter-proposal to this imbalance between our care for the body and the mind, I invite you all to embark on a short introduction towards a closer relationship to your bodies. In this experience, we will use Flamenco dance as a way to play and engage with our sensorial experiences.
In the end, we will have a short discussion about what we can all learn and gain from listening to what our bodies have to say a bit more. Looking forward to meeting you all!

The student representation Party Novum invites you for a Walk in the woods! Join us in an adventurous hiking tour in the southern part of Maastricht discovering villages as well as the nature which surrounds Maastricht’s city center.
This event challenges you to sustain a two-hour hiking session! Drinks as well as snacks can be provided for the duration of the trip. Furthermore, participants can take part in customizing the hiking session to their liking by joining our WhatsApp group to get directly in touch with the organizers! We are more than open to create the experience you’re looking for!

The UM Community invites you to our housewarming, offering an open and safe space for everyone to join. We would like to come together with students (& staff members) from all faculties, study programs and any (cultural) background.
We will make beautiful decorations out of recycled materials, paint furniture and make drawings which you can take home or fill our cosy hub with. Of course we will be offering tasty snacks and drinks to enjoy. The UM Community will organise social events that are all centered around connecting with others and creating memories together.

First lecture in a series of six| Online
Don’t miss our online FREE lecture series and workshops on nutritional psychology including lecturers from different parts of the world! Nutritional psychology is a newly emerging, highly relevant field, which is all about the impact of nutrition on our brain, behaviour as well as mental health and vice versa. You will learn what the field is and how it currently develops, possible applications for clinicians and a lot of theoretical background by researchers.
You can get a certificate for completing the lecture series. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to request one, if you have attended at least 5 lectures.
IN ADDITION TO THE LECTURES there will be a cooking workshop with 3 sessions in which we will apply the knowledge from the field. The workshop will take place in Maastricht 2x during November and 1x January. There will only be a few places for the workshop – so be quick to sign up! The workshop will take around 1.5-2 hours during which we will cook together, talk about the lectures but mostly have some fun! Details on the date and location of the workshops will be provided soon.
