Conference format - engaging plenary sessions, interactive workshops and ample opportunity to connect with colleagues, practitioners, policy-makers and experts. 

 

Plenary sessions

The conference will feature a combination of plenary sessions and interactive workshops.  Plenary highlights include keynote addresses from Sydney Constantini from the University of California, Berkeley and Bocconi University IGIER, in Milan and Matt Downie, MBE - CEO of Crisis UK. 

A plenary on connecting to EU level policies, tools and opportunities will feature representatives of the European Commission: Dan Jørgensen – Commissioner for Energy and Housing - invited; Roxana Mînzatu, Executive Vice President and Commissioner for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness - invited; and Maria Ohisalo - Member of the European Parliament - invited.  

Confirmed speakers also include Matthew Baldwin, head of the European Commission’s Housing Task Force, representatives from the City of Rotterdam, key partners in Housing First Europe, researchers and practitioners. 

Workshops

Workshops are designed to provide participants with the opportunity to learn from each other, share challenges, and consider how a Housing First approach can be part of strategies to prevent homelessness through policy and practice.  

Workshops will focus on how Housing First helps to build bridges with key actors and across sectors will be organised along 8 themes, each featuring 3 workshops over the course of Thursday 29 October and Friday 30 October.  Registration for the workshops will open in September.  Registered participants will receive an email inviting them to register for individual workshops in September.
