FAIRify Kick-off meeting on 29 August, Leiden University
FAIRify your metabolomics data: achieving convergence on standards for reuse-ready data and workflows, the FAIRify project is one of the TDCC-LSH projects granted by NWO in April 2025. In project FAIRify, the Netherlands Metabolomics Community will work together to develop processes for catalysing convergence onto FAIR standards for metabolomics. FAIRify kick-starts a culture of FAIR data creation and stewardship for metabolomics research.
TDCC Life Sciences and Health
As part of the Implementation programme for the digitisation of scientific research in the Netherlands, NWO has provided funding for the next 10 years to support the formation of three national-level Thematic Digital Competence Centres (TDCC) with complementary network activities and project (funding opportunities) to tackle domain specific challenges in data driven science. The Thematic Digital Competence Center (TDCC) for Life Sciences and Health (LSH) is coordinated by Health-RI and builds on the DTL and Health-RI networks to offer a programme aimed to strengthen and harmonise the digital practises among stakeholders in the broad Dutch research domains of life sciences and biomedical/health sciences.
The TDCC-LSH projects target the involvement and alignment of (existing) research infrastructure initiatives as well as communities of e.g. bioinformaticians; computational biologists; Ethical, Legal and Societal Implications (ELSI) specialists; data scientists; data stewards and research software engineers active across the broad LSH domain. Please, follow the TDCC-LSH project page for the latest updates on projects or submit your own project ideas!

Title: FAIRify your metabolomics data: achieving convergence on standards for reuse-ready data and workflows (FAIRify)
Project lead: Prof. dr. T. (Thomas) Hankemeier
Public Summary
Metabolomics is a data-rich field undergoing rapid growth. The FAIR principles provide guidance on how to make data Findable, Accessible, automatically Interoperable, and maximally Reusable. Scalable solutions for making metabolomics data FAIR can only be built on broadly accepted agreements on FAIR standards. In project FAIRify, the Netherlands Metabolomics Community will work together to develop processes for catalysing convergence onto FAIR standards for metabolomics. This process will be used to FAIRify high-priority data and will itself be reusable in other omics fields and after the project ends. FAIRify kick-starts a culture of FAIR data creation and stewardship for metabolomics research.
