PROGRAM

 

DAY 1 | FRIDAY MARCH 25TH, 2022

06.00 hrs
Everyone travels to Brussels Airport on their own. Gather at the check-in desk and meet the travel coordinators of Rientjes & Partners. They will accompany us throughout the journey. If you have any questions during the trip, you can contact them. 

Check-in for the charter flight. When you have checked in and obtained your boarding pass, you can go through the security. Behind the customs there will be some time to have a small breakfast or to do some duty free shopping. 

08.05 hrs
Here we go! Departure of the charter flight to Ivalo. The plane is exclusively reserved for our group, so there will be no other passengers on board! During the flight lunch and drinks will be served. 
Please note: do not drink any alcohol because of the afternoon activity!

13.00 hrs
Welcome to Lapland! On arrival in Finland, we will be warmy welcomed by the local guide. Do not forget it is 1 hour later than in Belgium! You will receive a set of winter clothing which you can use during our entire stay in Lapland. You will have some time to change. Afterwards, we will go on our first adventure!

The group will be divided into 3 subgroups for one of the following Lappish activities: 

• Snowmobile adventure
• Reindeer safari
• Husky ride

Everyone participates in all these 3 activities during this weekend.  

Snowmobile adventure
The main roads in Lapland are cleared of snow throughout the winter. But not all narrow paths and back roads have that honor and so they keep their beautiful white 'winter coat'. We are going to explore them! The snowmobiles are ready for a fantastic trip (2 people per snowmobile) through the white landschape. Note: driver's license required! After an extensive instruction on how to use the snowmobile, the adventure, led by a guide, begins!

 

Reindeer safari
We visit an authentic reindeer farm. Here you will be taken into the culture and history of the Lappish people and you will learn more about the Sami culture, reindeer and their shepherds. Of course you will get to know the oldest means of transportation in Lapland: the reindeer sleigh! A selected group of reindeer trained for sledding and reindeer racing is housed on the farm of the reindeer owner. During this safari you will move through the snowy landscape in the traditional way, where the only sound you will hear is the ringing of reindeer bells. Magical!

 

 

Husky ride
During a stay in Lapland, a trip with huskies in the snow is a must! That is why we drive to a husky farm. There are several husky farms in Lapland. The dogs are already waiting for you, barking and happily wagging their tails. Besides an enormous cuddliness factor, huskies have an incredible work ethic. You can not make them happier than let them sledge with the other dogs of the group. So that is what we are going to do!

While sitting on the sled (2 persons per sledge), you will be guided through the quiet white landscape. Meanwhile, the experienced guide tells you all about these dogs, the nature and how to train the dogs in this cold climate. You can steer the sled by yourself. Halfway through you can of course switch with your sled partner. A truly unforgettable experience!

 

At the end of the afternoon we will arrive at the 4* hotel Lapland Riekonlinna in the village  Saariselkä. Here we will stay the coming days. After check-in, you can settle into your hotel room and have some time to relax.

Dinner will be served in the hotel tonight.

After dinner it is time for a breath of fresh air! We leave the hotel with a guide to search for the Northern Light! A special natural phenomenon (Aurora Borealis) in the areas around the Artic Circle during the winter months.  

When returning to the hotel, you can have a drink in the hotel bar or somewhere in Saariselkä. This will be at your own expense.

 

DAY 2 | SATURDAY MARCH 26TH, 2022

From 07.00 hrs 
A good start of the day with a delicious breakfast in the hotel. 

10.00 - 12.00 hrs 
Gather in the hotel lobby in your thermal clothes. We continue with the Lappish activities. If you are going on the snow mobile safari today, do not forget your driving license! 

Lunch will take place in the hotel. Take a time to recover from all impressions and catch up with your colleagues. 

13.30 - 15.30 hrs
We continue with the Lappish activities. This afternoon you will join the third - and final - activity. Enjoy!

When we return the hotel in the afternoon, you have some leisure time. Relax in the hotel, enjoy the Spa or visit Saariselkä for a souvenir or drink. 

19.00 hrs
We gather in the hotel lobby. The busses are ready to bring us to the dinner- and party location! It will be a night to remember! We will spend this evening in a wonderful location, in the middle of the Lappish nature. Enjoy the dinner and the Trilations 'Artic Disco Party' with DJ and live music. 
 

Around midnight we will return the hotel. You can have a drink in the hotel bar or somewhere in Saariselkä. This will be at your own expense.

DAY 3 | SUNDAY MARCH 27TH, 2022

From 07.00 hrs 
Enjoy the extensive breakfast buffet for the last time. 

This morning, we will offer various activities. When you registered online for this trip, you chose one of the following acitivites: 

• Skiing
• Snowboarding
• Snowshoe walking
• Leisure time

Our Lappish adventure ends with a final lunch, served in the nature. Time to say good bye and to go to Ivalo airport for the return flight to Brussels. 

16.00 - 18.55 hrs
Charter flight from Ivalo to Brussels Airport. A meal and drinks will be served on board. 

Upon arrival everone travels home on their own. The Trilations Lapland trip has come to an end. An experience you will never forget!
