11:00 - 13:00 | Nature Therapy
by Michelle van Mulken | EDLAB, Tapijnkazerne 23, room 0.110
Simply being present in the natural world with all our senses fully activated, can have a remarkable healing effect, mentally, emotionally and physically. Nature therapy is a practice that is currently receiving a lot of media attention for its significant effect on improving our overall wellbeing, with many countries supporting general practitioners to prescribe nature time and nature based therapies and coaching. Due to a lack of public awareness and knowledge of the scientific evidence supporting these practices, many still view these nature based practices as “airy-fairy”.
This is why Michelle van Mulken, who you may know from the many nature therapy workshops she has guided during past Wellbeing Weeks and Wellbeing Wednesdays, decided to add in a different element for this November’s Wellbeing Week. She will combine nature therapy invitations outdoors with a lecture indoors about the connection between health, wellbeing and nature.
Come join Michelle van Mulken (Certified Forest Therapy Guide & Nature Coach with a PhD in Health Promotion) to find out more about how nature improves our health and wellbeing and to experience it directly outdoors. Her role is to provide you with invitations that will help you to connect more deeply with nature in ways that can facilitate healing, relaxation, wonder, enjoyment, creativity, a deeper connection with self, and a deeper awareness of our interconnectedness with each other and with the more than human world. Trust that you will receive whatever it is that you need in this very moment.

14:00 - 15:30 | Creativity
by Arie van der Lugt, associate professor, sect. Teaching & Innovation of Learning | EDLAB, Tapijnkazerne 23, room 0.110
At its heart, creativity is simply the production of novel, appropriate ideas in any realm of human activity, from science to the arts, to education, to business, to everyday life. The ideas must be novel—different from what's been done before—but they can't be simply bizarre; they must be appropriate to the problem or opportunity presented.
In this workshop, the creative process will be introduced through a few brief exercises. By the end of the workshop, you should have a better understanding of what creativity is and how you can further enhance your own creative problem-solving skills.

18:30 - 20:30 | How are you - really? Re-connecting with yourself
by Julika Salb |EDLAB, Tapijnkazerne 23, room 0.110
'I think part of what's happening right now is that a lot more people, have a lot more contact, but still feel a lot lonelier'. (Student, 18 years old)
'I think for me the biggest, longest, most emotional challenge is probably this process with myself. To find myself, to be satisfied with myself, to accept myself, to represent myself also to others, that is, to make my own thoughts and point of view, my own opinions. To be aware of them, to reflect on them and to represent them to others'. (Student, 22 years old)
Can you identity with these students? Then this workshop might be right for you! The years at university are often described as “the time of your life”, but honestly, they are often rather messy, rocky years. We are trying to balance university, build relationships and plan our future, while constantly questioning: Who am I? What is my place in this world? Am I accepted the way I am?
In an open, confidential, and authentic atmosphere, we will intentionally take time for self-reflection, talk about life challenges and share own experiences with others. Some useful tools and questions from systemic counselling and positive psychology will guide us through these two hours to truly re-connect with ourselves and with others.
