Privacy Policy IFB

Your privacy is important to us, which is why we have developed this privacy policy which sets out how we collect, disclose, transfer and use the personal data you share with us, and what rights you have.

This Privacy Policy is intended to provide you with information about our processing of personal data.

With respect to our privacy practices in connection with our services, we refer you to the agreement that may be in place between us.

Article 1 - ASBL Impact Finance Belgium (IFB)

"We", "us" or "our" refers to Impact Finance Belgium (IFB), whose registered office is located at rue Joseph II, 20, 1000 Brussels, Belgium and whose company number is BE0797.725.129.

Article 2 – Personal Data

Personal data is defined as any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.

“Identifiable" means identifiers (such as name, identification number, location data, etc.), which can be used to identify a natural person directly or indirectly.

The personal data we collect is collected and used for the purposes listed below:

  • If you use the contact form on our website, we will use your personal data to respond to your request by e-mail.

 

  • In the event that you enter into a transaction with us, we collect your personal information in order to process the minimum information required, to make or process a payment for the purchase of services, to provide our services to you and to enable us to send you your orders, quotations or to contact you.

 

  • If you register for an event, your email address and contact details will be used to send you an invitation and to follow up on the event.

 

  • We process your personal data for the purposes of supporting the website and improving your user experience, which includes ensuring the security, availability, performance, capacity, and health of the website.

 

  • We process your personal data to assert or exercise any rights we may have under applicable law, such as use for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.

 

  • We may also use your personal data to fulfil our obligations as defined by applicable law.

The following categories of personal data can be distinguished:

  • Contact data: If you use the contact form on the IFB website, enter into a transaction with IFB, or register for an IFB event, you may be asked to provide the following information: name, email address and any personal data you choose to include in the blank field provided (please do not provide us with sensitive information, such as health information, information relating to criminal convictions or credit card/account numbers). This is information that you provide directly to us.

 

  • Usage Data: We collect personal data about your activities on our website, such as IP address, device ID and type, referral source, language settings, browser type, operating system, geographic location, length of visit, pages viewed, or information about when, how often, and how you use our service. This information may be aggregated and used to help us provide more useful information about the use of our website. In the event that usage data is completely anonymous (and therefore cannot be traced back to you as an individual), it will not be considered personal data for the purposes of this privacy policy. It is personal data that is automatically collected when you use the website.

 

  • The legal basis for processing your personal data may be a legitimate interest (optimizing the website experience, security, fraud detection), the performance of a contract (in case you engage with us under a contract for the performance of one or more services). Where the legal basis for processing your personal data is consent, you will have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. However, this will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before the withdrawal of consent.

 

  • Where the legal basis for processing is our legitimate interest, the public interest, you will have the right to object to such processing as set out in the "Rights" section below. Your personal data will only be used for the purposes set out in this article.

Article 3 - Data retention, data deletion

Your personal information will not be retained for longer than is necessary for the purpose specified above. However, as it is not possible for us to specify a period in advance, the retention period will be determined as follows: retention will be determined on the basis of a legal obligation to retain the data, a legitimate interest and the need to retain the data for the specified purpose.

If you withdraw your consent or object to the use of your personal data and the objection is successful, we will remove your personal data from our databases.

Please note that we will retain the personal data necessary to ensure that your preferences are respected in the future.

However, the above will not prevent us from retaining personal data if this is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, to make or defend against a complaint, or for evidential purposes.

Article 4 - Rights

This article lists your main rights under the Data Protection Act. We have tried to summarize them for you in a clear and readable way.

To exercise any of your rights, please send us a written request in accordance with section 1 of this privacy policy, enclosing a copy of your ID card (front only). We will respond to your request within one month of receipt of the request. If the response time is extended or if we do not respond to your request, we will inform you.

The right of access:

You have the right to know whether or not we are processing your personal data and, if so, you have the right to access that data, as well as certain additional information which you will also find in this privacy policy.

You have the right to receive from us a copy of your personal data held by us, provided that this does not infringe the rights and freedoms of others. The first copy will be provided to you free of charge, but we reserve the right to charge you a reasonable fee if you regularly request further copies.

The right of rectification:

If the personal data we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to have it rectified or, having regard to the purposes of the processing, completed.

The right to erasure (right to be forgotten):

In certain circumstances, you have the right to erase your personal data. These circumstances include the following

  • Personal data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or otherwise processed;
  • You withdraw your consent, and there are no other legal grounds;
  • The processing is for direct marketing purposes;
  • The personal data has been processed unlawfully; or,
  • Insurance is necessary to comply with EU or Belgian law. The right to erasure is subject to certain exclusions. These exclusions include cases where processing is necessary for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and information, for compliance with a legal obligation or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.

The right to restrict processing:

You have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data (which means that the personal data can only be stored by us and can only be used for limited purposes), if:

  • You dispute the accuracy of the personal data (and only for the time necessary to verify its accuracy);
  • The processing is unlawful and you request restriction (as opposed to exercising the right to erasure);
  • We no longer need the personal data for the purposes of our processing, but you need the personal data for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims; or
  • You have objected to the processing, pending verification of that objection.
  • In addition to our right to store your personal data, we may also process it, but only with your consent, for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims, for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person or for reasons of substantial public interest.

We will inform you before lifting the processing restriction.

The right to data portability

Insofar as the legal basis for our processing of your personal data is consent or a contract and this processing is carried out by automated means, you have the right to receive your personal data from us in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format. However, this right does not apply where it would infringe the rights and freedoms of others.

You also have the right to have your personal data transferred directly to another company, if technically possible, and/or to store your personal data for further personal use on a private device.

The right to object to processing

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data on grounds relating to your particular situation, but only to the extent that the legal basis for the processing is that the processing is necessary:

  • The performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of any official authority vested in us;
  • The purposes of legitimate interests pursued by us or by a third party.

If you make such an objection, we will stop processing the personal information unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights, and freedoms, or that the processing is for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data for direct marketing purposes (including profiling for direct marketing purposes). If you object to such processing, we will stop processing your personal data for this purpose.

The right to complain to a supervisory authority.

If you believe that the processing of your personal information violates data protection laws, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority responsible for data protection. You can do this in the EU Member State in which you usually reside, at your place of work or at the place of the alleged infringement. In Belgium, you can file a complaint with the personal data protection authority:

Article 5 - Communication of personal data

In order to provide you with our website, we work with a service provider to process and store your personal information. We use the following categories of service providers:

  • Cloud storage
  • SaaS We may also disclose your personal data where such disclosure is required or necessary to fulfil a legal obligation. We may also disclose personal data to protect your vital interests or those of another individual. As such, we do not disclose your personal data to our social media partners. We do, however, use social media plugins to direct you to our social media channels and allow you to interact with our content. These social media channels are (LinkedIn, Youtube, Twitter). If you click on such a link, that social media service provider may collect personal data about you and may link that information to your existing profile on those social media. We are not responsible for the use of your personal data by that social media service provider. In this case, the social media service provider will act as a controller. For your information only, we have included the relevant links (these may change from time to time by the relevant service provider):

 

Article 6 – International transfers

We will not transfer your personal data outside the European Economic Area.

Article 7 - Cookies

Our website uses cookies. As is common practice on almost all business websites, this site uses cookies, which are tiny files downloaded to your computer, to enhance your experience.
