Title: The predictive value of language
Speaker: Prof.dr. M.M. (Max) Louwerse

Imagine you wouldn’t have to ask your customers what they think of your new product, but are able to deduct their opinions from a mass of social media expressions. Imagine you would be able to detect fraud in an early stage, just by analyzing an email dataset. Imagine what the potential of the predictive value of language could be. Every one of us uses language every day, but we rarely see it as a source of information about the world around us. In this talk you will learn more about the ways language resources, such as newspapers, email messages, and novels, help data scientists to understand the world and predict human behavior.
